Retired professional skateboarder Mikey Taylor has taken another step in his life after skating by becoming the mayor of his hometown, Thousand Oaks. While many remember him for his time on the skateboard, Taylor has spent the years since retiring building a life focused on family, business, and community. Over the years, he has also taken the time to mentor young skaters, teaching them how to handle their finances wisely and make decisions that set them up for the future. Taylor’s interest in leadership and service naturally led him to politics. He first joined the Thousand Oaks City Council, where he worked closely with city staff and residents to support local projects and initiatives. His efforts and dedication did not go unnoticed, and now he has stepped into the role of mayor, ready to guide the city with the same focus and determination he applied to skating and business.
