  • FTP x Reebok Skate Shoes Coming Soon That Reveal a Secret F*ck The Population Design as You Shred

    @Instagram.com/ftpleaks

    FTP is really moving in with this skate thing for real.

    They already had everybody watching back in 2022 when they dropped that “NOT A SKATE VIDEO.” That whole thing felt like some raw Baker type project, nothing clean or polished, just clips straight from the street.Crazy part is Zack himself doesn’t even skate but somehow FTP ended up with one of the hardest names in the game when Antwuan Dixon got down with them.The second Dixon was on board the whole scene had to pay attention.Now FTP linking up with Reebok for some skate shoes and they’re not just doing a regular sneaker drop. These got layers built in. When you skate them the first look breaks down and another FTP design starts showing through.It is like the shoes get louder the more you actually put them to use. That makes sense too because skaters never keep their shoes clean. Once you put in the work, they look better beat up, and FTP already lives in that attitude of not caring how it looks as long as it is real.Zack always been on that street mentality with FTP with no pretending, and just doing whatever feels right. So having Dixon on the skate side feels organic.Dixon has always been one of those dudes everybody respected on a board, so making him part of the brand makes it feel more official.Once these hit the streets, everybody’s going to want to see if they really hold up. FTP heads will cop them quick no question.But if the shoe feels good to skate and that second layer design comes through the way they say it will, then FTP and Reebok might end up with one of the hardest skate collabs in a minute.

  • Pro Skateboarder Kyonosuke Yamashita Leaves Lakai to Put Asics in the Streets

    Credit: Erased; Asics

    Kyonosuke Yamashita on  AsicsKyonosuke Yamashita just switched it up heavy. He’s no longer rocking with Lakai and is now officially rolling with Asics Skateboarding.

    That move right there is straight power since Asics is from his own country and it feels like he’s putting on for Japan in a big way.The Lakai spot didn’t stay empty for long though. Chris Joslin slid right in and now he’s carrying that torch. Anybody who’s seen Joslin skate knows he goes all out every time, so Lakai stacking him on the roster makes sense. Still, Yamashita leaving leaves a mark because he’s been one of the illest names to represent the team out of Asia.For Asics, they made sure the whole world knew what time it was. They dropped that “A Guided Tour” full length on Thrasher to stamp their name in skateboarding culture. That wasn’t just some throwaway clip either. It was a full project showing they’re not playing around and they’re here to grow in the skate world with skaters who actually matter.Yamashita making this move is deeper than just a  shoe deal.It’s like he’s tying himself closer to his roots while putting himself in position to go global at the same time.Skateboarding never stops switching up and this just shows how worldwide it really is now. Yamashita with Asics feels like the start of something bigger, like Japan really about to step louder into the game.

  • THE SKATEBOARD MAG FOUNDING EDITOR & OG SKATER KEVIN WILKINS HAS PASSED AWAY

    The skate world lost a real one. Kevin Wilkins, the founding editor of The Skateboard Mag and one of the OGs who helped shape how the culture was told, has passed away after a long fight with cancer. He was more than an editor. He lived skating, he breathed it, and he carried the stories that made it real. People in the scene knew Kevin as someone solid. He showed love to everyone who cared about skateboarding. He never acted like he was above anyone. He loved music, books, art, and all the things that made life worth talking about. He could go from cracking jokes to dropping real talk without missing a beat. He was someone who made people feel like they belonged. His GoFundMe page, organized by Annie Wilkins, gave everyone a glimpse of what he and his family were going through, and how strong they stayed through it all.
