Talent shows are known for delivering powerhouse vocals and jaw-dropping acrobatics, but every once in a while, an audition comes along that captures the pure essence of love and family. On a recent episode of Britain’s Got Talent, 9-year-old Lucciano and his grandad, Frankie, delivered one of the most heartwarming moments in the show’s history.
When young Lucciano first stepped onto the stage alone, wearing a sharp little suit and a bright smile, he immediately won over the audience. Speaking to the judges, the 9-year-old shared that he had come to the audition with his mum, dad, nana, and grandad.
When asked how his passion for singing began, Lucciano revealed a touching backstory. While his parents were at work, his grandparents would look after him. His grandad, Frankie, used to sing for residents in care homes, and little Lucciano would tag along and join in.
“I like singing with my grandad,” Lucciano told the judges earnestly. “So, I really would like if Grandad could sing with me today.”

The twist? Grandad Frankie had no idea this was part of the plan. Sitting comfortably in the audience, Frankie thought he was simply there to cheer his grandson on.
“Grandad, do you want to come?” Lucciano called out, pointing toward the seating area.
Overwhelmed with shock and emotion, Frankie slowly made his way down to the stage. Because the surprise caught him completely off guard, the judges kindly suggested that the pair step backstage for a few minutes so Frankie could catch his breath, have a glass of water, and compose himself.
When they returned to the stage hand-in-hand, a visibly moved Frankie explained just how much the moment meant to him. “How often do you ever get the chance to sing with your grandson in front of some lovely people?” Frankie said, looking fondly at Lucciano. “He’s the most kindest, loving, adorable little boy you could ever want to meet.”
Once the music started, the duo launched into a soulful, heartwarming rendition of One Direction’s hit song, “History.”
The lyrics—“You and me got a whole lot of history, we could be the greatest team that the world has ever seen”—took on a brand-new, deeply personal meaning as the grandson and grandfather traded verses. The contrast between Lucciano’s sweet, youthful energy and Frankie’s warm, seasoned voice created a magical bridge between generations.
Throughout the performance, the pair smiled at each other, held hands, and got the entire auditorium clapping along. By the time they hit the final note, the audience and judges were on their feet, roaring with applause.
